Most schools will not timetable a standalone personal finance course, because that costs a teacher, a room and a slot. They fold the requirement into something they already teach. These are five blocks of three to five periods each, built to sit inside 9th grade social studies and be taught by someone who is not a finance specialist.
Ninth grade social studies is the one 9th grade course whose standards already contain taxation, credit, consumer regulation and market behaviour. That makes this a fuller treatment of what the standards already ask for, rather than an extra unit competing for time. It is also where the first cohort bound by these requirements is sitting right now.
Three to five periods. Long enough to be real, short enough to fit a gap without displacing a planned unit.
A social studies teacher. Every answer, worked example and common misconception is supplied, so no finance background is assumed.
A completion record per student, which is the part a requirement usually asks a school to document.
Highlighted lessons are from the newest unit, Fraud, Scams and Consumer Protection. Every lesson listed is already in the library.
We will prepare the teacher guide, the printable student artifact and a crosswalk to your state's published standards, formatted for a curriculum committee.
