Accessibility at QuantAim

QuantAim is used by public schools, including virtual and charter schools that receive federal funding and are required to use WCAG 2.2 AA conformant tools. This page says where we actually stand, including where we fall short.

Summary. QuantAim substantially conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The gaps we know about are listed below rather than omitted. If you are evaluating QuantAim for procurement and need a signed VPAT, email ejanecek@quantaim.org and we will provide one for your review.

What we test, and how

Colour contrast is measured programmatically against both the light and dark themes on every change, because QuantAim ships both and a token that passes on white can fail on the dark card. Keyboard navigation and focus visibility are checked by hand on the pages students actually use: lessons, quizzes, the dashboard and the reader.

We do not claim automated testing is sufficient. Automated tools catch perhaps a third of real barriers, and we have not commissioned an independent audit or testing with screen reader users. That is the single biggest limitation of this statement.

CriterionStatusNotes
1.1.1 Non-text ContentSupports Charts are rendered as SVG with a text equivalent alongside. Decorative icons are hidden from assistive technology.
1.3.1 Info and RelationshipsSupports Headings, lists and tables use real semantic elements; form controls use real labels.
1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum)Supports 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text, verified in light and dark themes.
1.4.11 Non-text ContrastPartially supports Interactive borders and focus rings meet 3:1. Some chart fills are below 3:1 against the card, which is why every chart also states its figures as text.
2.1.1 KeyboardSupports All interactive elements are reachable and operable by keyboard.
2.4.7 Focus VisibleSupports A visible focus ring is present on every interactive element.
2.5.8 Target Size (Minimum)Supports Tap targets are at least 44×44 CSS pixels; quiz and onboarding options are 48px or larger.
3.3.2 Labels or InstructionsSupports Every form field has an associated label.
1.2.2 Captions (Prerecorded)Partially supports Where QuantAim hosts video it carries captions. Lessons that embed third-party video depend on captions from that source, which we do not control.
4.1.2 Name, Role, ValuePartially supports Standard controls are used throughout. A small number of custom widgets (the simulators) have not been tested with a screen reader and may not announce state correctly.

Known gaps

Section 508

Section 508 incorporates WCAG 2.0 Level AA by reference. Everything above meets or exceeds that bar, with the same exceptions noted.
