QuantAim shows real market and economic data inside its lessons and simulators. This page lists every source behind it: what it covers, who publishes it, whether we pay for it, how often it refreshes, and what it cannot do.
We publish this because it is the first question a serious department asks, and because a teacher should be able to answer a student who says “where did that number come from?”
Prices on QuantAim are delayed and are not a licensed market data feed. Share prices and index levels are read from Yahoo Finance’s public chart endpoint — the same one the widely used yfinance library reads. It has no service guarantee, and it can change or stop without notice.
That is an appropriate basis for a teaching product, where the point is that a student learns what a price move means. It is not an appropriate basis for making a real investment decision, and QuantAim is not built for that, does not execute trades, and does not give investment advice. Portfolios in the Academy are simulated with virtual money throughout.

| Share prices, index levels, historical price series The same public endpoint the widely used yfinance library reads. It is not a licensed market data feed and it is not real time - treat every price on QuantAim as delayed. | Yahoo Finance chart endpoint | No key | On request, cached for minutes |
| Short interest, analyst consensus, sector classification Requires a crumb and session cookie handshake, which QuantAim performs server-side. Verified against live responses on 26 July 2026. | Yahoo Finance quoteSummary | Session handshake | On request, cached |
| Options chains Used for the derivatives material only. Not used anywhere in the graded curriculum. | Yahoo Finance options endpoint | Session handshake | On request, cached |

| US policy rate, CPI, unemployment, Treasury yields, dollar index, high-yield spreads Series FEDFUNDS, CPIAUCSL, UNRATE, DGS2, DGS10, DTWEXBGS and BAMLH0A0HYM2, verified live on 22 July 2026. This is the official US statistical source, not a redistributor. | FRED - Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis | API key | Daily, following FRED's own release schedule |
| Eurozone policy rates and inflation Read directly from the ECB's public data API. Where a series has not been independently re-verified since it was added, the figure is shown with its as-of date so a teacher can check it against the ECB site in one click. | ECB Statistical Data Warehouse | No key | Following the ECB's own release schedule |

| Company financials, filing history, business descriptions The primary source, read directly. QuantAim sends the descriptive User-Agent with contact details that the SEC's fair-access policy requires. Shapes verified live on 20 July 2026. | SEC EDGAR | No key | As companies file |
| Institutional holdings (13F), material events (8-K), insider transactions (Form 4), private raises (Form D), IPO and SPAC filings Each has its own adapter reading the relevant EDGAR endpoint. Filing dates are shown, because a 13F describes a position that was held at quarter end, not one held now. | SEC EDGAR | No key | As filed |
| Earnings call transcripts Used in the analysis tools. Not part of the graded curriculum. | Financial Modeling Prep | API key | After each call |

Every source above is read through a caching layer rather than called on every page view. A quote requested twice in quick succession is served once from cache; macroeconomic series, which change daily at most, are cached far longer. This keeps QuantAim inside every provider’s rate limits and keeps pages fast in a classroom where thirty students load the same screen at once.
Where a figure is not live, it carries the date it was published. A 13F holding is a position held at the end of a quarter, not one held today, and the interface says so rather than implying otherwise.
None of the sources above involve student data in any direction. QuantAim does not send student information to any market data provider, and no provider on this page receives anything about who is using the platform.
For what QuantAim collects about students and how long it is kept, see the privacy policy and the privacy centre.
Data errors matter more in a classroom than anywhere else, because a wrong number gets taught. If a figure on QuantAim disagrees with the original source, tell us and we will trace it to the adapter that produced it. Contact us with the page and the figure.
